Here is the complete kalaam by Hazrat Shah Niyaz R.A. which has been sung by various singers including Abida Parveen in his album Raqs-e-Bismil:
Ishq mein tere kohe gham, sar pe liya jo ho so ho
Aish'o nishaat'e zindagi, chhod diya jo ho so ho
Mujh se mareez ko tabiib,haath too apna mat lagaa
Isko khuda pe chod de,bahr'e khuda jo ho so ho
Aql ke madrase se uth, ishq ke maikade mein aa
Jaam'e fanaa'o bekhudi, ab to piya jo ho so ho
Hijr ki jo museebatein arz kiin uske rubaru
Naaz'o adaa se muskura kehne lagaa jo ho so ho
Hasti ke is saraab mein raat ki raat bas rahe
Subh'e adam huaa numoo, paaon uthaa jo ho so ho
Dunia ke nek'o bad se kaam, humko niyaz kuch nahin
Aap se jo guzar gaya, use kia jo ho so ho
Can you please explain the meaning of 'Subh'e adam' in the following sher:
ReplyDeleteHasti ke is saraab mein raat ki raat bas rahe
Subh'e adam huaa numoo, paaon uthaa jo ho so ho
Adam in general means the end.It is antonym of Azal(eternity).specifically it is used for Qayamat (the judgement day).
ReplyDeleteSubah as you know means morning.
So Subah'e adam will mean the morning of the judhement day.
The complete sher will thus can be translated as-
Only spent the night in the mirage of existance,
The morning of judgement day has started,put your step foward let what happens.
Could you please translate/explain the following:
ReplyDeleteMujh se mareez ko tabiib,haath too apna mat lagaa
Isko khuda pe chod de,bahr'e khuda jo ho so ho
Hijr ki jo museebatein arz kiin uske rubaru
Naaz'o adaa se muskura kehne lagaa jo ho so ho
Thank you!
Mujh se mareez ko tabiib,haath too apna mat lagaa,
ReplyDeleteIsko khuda pe chod de,bahr'e khuda jo ho so ho.
Mareez = Patient,Tabib = Docter
Bahr'e Khuda = Khuda ke liye,For God's sake
So the literal translation will be:
Oh Docter, don’t touch the patient like me,
Leave it for the God; For god's sake let whatever happens
Hijr ki jo museebatein arz kiin uske rubaru
ReplyDeleteNaaz'o adaa se muskura kehne lagaa jo ho so ho
Hijr=Separation, museebatain=dificulties,problems
rubaru=infront of,Naaz'o adaa=pride & elegance
When I expressed the difficulties of separation,
Smiling with pride & elegance he said-let whatever happens.
Thanks for translating. Now I can being to interpret the inner meaning of the verses.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the journey!!!

@Pooja, to my understanding it says:
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to do with the good or bad of this world.
Whatever I did, I did. Now, come what may!
We have spent the night in the illusion of this world.
Now that the dawn is revealing itself, take a step forward towards it. (This I think refers to death, that's the only truth in this world)
In the song there are few verses before the song . It is not Urdu can anyone give me those lyrics and explain it to me.
ReplyDelete@ Imran Ali
ReplyDeleteit actually means that i have spent the night in the illusion of this world,,,which z not truth its a lie now that the dawn is revealing itself,n dawn here referred to god which is the only truth in d universe which will remain n rest everything in this world will end but the god is the ultimate truth and now that i have realized god that means,,,i have seen the dawn(god)nw i will take a step forward on this path of truth
can anyone translate the starting verses which are in farsi!!
